RULES
Art. 1
The Competition will take place in The City of Saluzzo, recently dubbed the "polo musicale" or musical center point, of the Piedmont region, from 15 to 17 of September 2010. The Gala Concert will be on September, 17 2010.
Art. 2
The Competition is open to singers of all nationalities born after January 1, 1975.
Art. 3
The repertoire will include opera arias chosen by the jury and two(2) opera arias chosen by the candidate without any limits of age or composer, to be performed in the original language.
Art. 4
The competition will consist of 3 rounds:
1. PRELIMINARY ROUND
September 15, 2 p.m.
Execution of an aria chosen by the candidate among the ones presented, different from the following ones. Execution of an aria chosen by the candidate among the following ones:
SOPRANO:
- Caro Nome (G.Verdi - Rigoletto)
- Quel guardo il cavalier (G.Donizetti - Don Pasquale)

2. SEMI-FINAL

Execution of an aria from the opera "Decameron". The aria will be available for downloading from our website no later than June 30, 2010. Execution of an aria chosen by the jury among the following ones:

3. FINAL IN FORM OF A GALA CONCERT AND PRIZE-GIVING CERIMONY
September 17, 9 p.m.

The finalists will need to make themselves available for rehearsals with the orchestra starting at 3 p.m. At the end of the cerimony the four winners will perform, at the discretion of the jury, arias from the opera "Decameron".
Art. 5
All the applicants must bring a copy of the music (piano and voice) chosen for the programme. The execution order will be decided by the lot of a letter of the alphabet in the presence of the candidates before the pre-selection procedure. The candidates are required to be at the Scuola di Alto Perfezionamento Musicale di Saluzzo on September 15 at 1pm with their identification card. The candidates who result absent on the pre-selection phase will be excluded and their entrance fee will not be refunded. The names of the candidates selected for the following rounds will be communicated by billposting. The Final, in form of a Gala Concert, will be open to the public. The Competition Committee will place an accompanist at the disposal of competitors. Competitors may if they wish use their own accompanists at their own expenses The final round will be accompanied by the orchestra.

The application must include::
1. Surname and first name;
2. Place and date of birth;
3. address;
4. telephone numbers and e-mail;
5. voice register;
6. list of the arias presented at the first round with Composer and Title.
The application form must be sent together with:
1. curriculum;
2. photocopy of the receipt showing that the entrance fee has been paid.
Art. 8
The jury will award the following prizes:
- Participation as leading protagonists(one of only 4 roles) in the world premiere of the opera "Decameron" in Philadelphia (USA) on November 12-13-14, 2010.
- Participation as soloist to various events/concerts in Philadelphia (USA) in October-November, 2010. Exact dates will be announced at a later time.
- Possible special critics awards
The Finalists of the Competition will be recommended to Superintendents and Artistic Directors of the Italian Lyrical and Symphonic Institutions.
Art. 9
The decision of the jury is final. The ballot, as per internal rules, is secret. The jury can decide not to award any prize if no candidate is considered deserving.
Art. 10
GENERAL REGULATIONS
The competition organizers reserves the right to bring all the necessary changes to the present regulations. The candidates, with the signature on the application, will give their implicit agreement to the competition rules and such a signature is also (675/96 law) a consent to use personal data for communications and selection. The competition organizers have unlimited rights to broadcast, telecast, and record, videotape, film and photograph the competition and all the events connected to it and to make audio or visual recording of them without any payment to the competitors or prize-winners. Should the organizers be in the necessity to cancel the Competition for force majeure, those concerned will be promptly informed and the entrance fee will be refunded. Contestants have no right to any travel or accomodation reimbursement. The participation in the competition implies the acceptance of the prizes. The winners must be in Philadelphia no later than October 18, 2010. During their stay in Philadelphia housing and meals will be provided. The winners will be reimbursed in Philadelphia for their travel expenses up to $800 (eight hundred dollars) upon presentation of the receipts. The winners agree to take part into all social events organized during their stay in the United States.
Art. 11
In case of any controversy, the Law Court of Saluzzo will be competent, referring to the Italian version of this document.

ACCOMMODATION
Special prizes accomodation are available at the different hotels. It is also possible to reside at the APM at a special prize of 20 € (twenty euros) per night. For information please call the Competition Secretary's Office.
